18/10/2009: German Bastian Freese and Caballero won the exciting Odense City Cup at the JBK Horse Shows on his horse, Caballero. Swedish rider Malin Hansen came second on Ulrich Z and Marlon Modolo Zanotelli from Brazil finished third. In Odense City Cup the equipages competed for a prize money total of 150,000 DKK
Odense City Cup, interestingly organised
The German equipage, Bastian Freese and Caballero, was victorious in the Odense City Cup at the JBK Horse Shows. This class was particularly interesting because the 50 contestants were divided into 12 groups of four or five equipages. The best equipage from each group qualified for the jump-off.
Victory for Bastian Freese in Odense City Cup
Bastian Freese knocked down one obstacle in the first round but still had the best round of his group. In the jump-off Freese had a clean round in 33.15 seconds. This was the fastest round of the jump-off and it thus secured first place for Bastian Freese.
Malin Hansen finished second on Ulrich Z
The Swedish rider Malin Hansen and the stallion Ulrich Z. came second in the jump-off of the Odense City Cup at the JBK Horse Shows. As was the case with the winner, in the first round Malin Hansen had four faults, but it sufficed to ensure her as the winner of the group. She completed the jump-off in a clean round in 34.15 seconds which landed her in second place.
Marlon Zanotelli came third at the JBK Horse Shows
The Brazilian rider Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and her horse Cat Ballou had luck on their side on their way to the third place in Odense City Cup. Although having a clean round, Zanotelli did not finish first in his group. However, two “lucky losers” received wild cards for the jump-off, one them was Zanotelli. In the jump-off he once again had a clean round in 34.40 seconds.
Tina Lund finished as the best of the Danish riders
With a fourth place in the Odense City Cup, Tina Lund and A-dur R finished as the best of the Danish equipages. Just like Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, Tina Lund was one of the “lucky losers” who did not win their respective groups, but still received a place in the jump-off.
